About
An ex-professional pitcher in the Detroit Tigers organization and a second generation professional, my focus is on keeping development simple and natural.
I start by finding what's natural with the student and slowly layering simple to implement staples leading to the ability to effortlessly repeat the delivery. This ability is the key to command and control and is preferred to developing velocity. It is only from a strong foundation that meaningful velocity will evolve from. The student is introduced to visualization as well as effective drills to immediately begin mastering this foundational ability.
As the student begins mastering these foundational skills, the ability to change speeds is introduced, cultivated, and mastered.
The student will also be introduced to the PBT3000, a unique training aid I developed in cooperation with valuable feedback from Major League pitching coaches and managers. This device doubles as a devastating conditioning exercise building specific functional pitching strength unique to each individual's delivery, as well as a correctional device for pitching's number one killer - rushing.
My passion is to help kids have the best chance to achieve what I couldn't: a career as a Major League pitcher providing the aptitude and basic abilities are there. Pitching RX exists to fix; to provide a remedy and develop. All I need is your will to succeed.
I enjoy seeing kids get better, more confident, relaxed, and comfortable.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Determine desire to improve and assess where student is now in their development. Then develop a program to strengthen core fundamentals keeping pitching simple with an increased liklihood of improving.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Exposed and involved in the game/pitching at the Major League level for 46 years. Father pitched 10 years professional baseball and was one of the head scouts for the Kansas City Royals for over 20 years. KNOW what scouts think is important when assessing professional pitchers and their potential. Pitched in the Detroit Tiger's organization and brother pitched in Boston Red Sox organization. Exposed to and understand the nuances of the Major League game MOST pitching instructors DON'T. I WILL make you better while deepening your understanding of the game and keeping it simple. I help you FIND untapped potential.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't continue a lesson with someone who doesn't have the ability to assess where you are NOW and build from there. Stay away from coaches who get you THINKING TOO MUCH and prevent you from feeling the game coming naturally THROUGH the instruction
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask THEMSELVES how serious they are about COMMITTING to get better. Are they doing it for themselves or their FATHER/MOTHER?
