About
I've been studying music since the age of 5, when I started piano. I participated in the Certificate of Merit program, which I completed at the age of 16.
I received a 5 on both parts of the AP Music Theory test, and decided to pursue a Music Composition degree at the University of Redlands. At Redlands, I tested into the sophomore-level Theory and Ear Training III classes. I received a 4.0 grade in both of those classes, and am the first student in the history of the UoR School of Music to test out of every level of Ear Training offered at the school.
I have received several awards in music, including the Improvisation Honor's Recital Award as part of the Certificate of Merit Convention, and the University of Redlands President's Honors Award for composition. An orchestra piece of mine will be performed by the University of Redlands Symphony Orchestra this upcoming fall.
I have been teaching for several years, and have worked with children aged 5-21. I have been a tutor for the University of Redlands throughout my time at the school, helping my peers with Theory and Ear Training.
I also offer online classes, or lessons over Skype for students that are not a driving distance away.
Music is my passion. I love talking about music, performing music, and writing music. Being able to share that passion with a student is truly a gift, and seeing continuous progress and achievment over time is a wonderful feeling.

Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently pursuing a B.M. in Music Composition at the University of Redlands, planned 2020.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My hourly rate is $45. Discounts are available if paying for 5 or more classes upfront.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students aged 5-21, and everything in between. I've taught piano lessons to all children under 18, and have worked on Music Theory and Ear Training with high-school and college students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The most important thing is good chemistry and rapport with your teacher. It doesn't matter who it is, but you learn best from a teacher that you get along with, and has a teaching style that works best with you. If that's not me, I'd be happy to share recommendations of teachers I have worked with, but I believe I have a unique perspective and approach to teaching that may be effective to a motivated student, regardless of ability.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you want to get out of this experience? I'm happy to work with you for education's sake, but in my experience, when working towards a goal students are much more motivated to do the best they can.
