Crystal has had a lifelong passion for fitness and movement. From early
childhood when Crystal was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, she has suffered from extreme tightness in her spine and muscles. For Crystal, movement has always provided healing and increased mobility. In 2008, she began learning the Pilates Method to improve strength and flexibility and following a serious RV accident in 2011, she intensified her practice of Pilates to aid her recovery.
Wanting to share Pilates with other, Crystal began her teacher training at In & Up Pilates in late 2015. Crystal is proud to have profoundly improved the movement quality of one of her clients who lives with MS, drop foot, and lupus with the Pilates Method and other fitness and healing modalities.
In addition to Pilates, Crystal continues to study Yoga, Russian Kettlebelling,
Tactfit, CST, Clubbelling, Aerial Yoga and Aerial Silks. She worked for a non
profit called Movement Therapy Foundation from 2010-2014 and learned about a variety of Movement Therapy Techniques. In 2012, Crystal began personal training and in 2016, began teaching the MELT Hand and Foot technique.
Because of my Scoliosis I’ve been daily practicing yoga for over 40 years but if I skip a day my low back starts to hurt. I just had my second session with the Pilates trainer Crystal Cossey in Atwater Village. I’m just amazed at the quick relief out of pain in my back. I walked in with back pain so bad I couldn’t even stand up straight. I leave after an hour WITHOUT ANY LOW BACK PAIN!! This is astounding, Crystal clearly and slowly showed me simple exercises on a Foam Roller (which I now have at home) and my low back pain is gone. I also loved the Reformer as well to build up my core muscles, which I see is going to take a while to retrain those core muscles, did I mention I’m 65 years old. But I feel like a million bucks after having these 2 sessions with Crystal. She has the patience of a saint, I’m a little dyslexic but she calmly just walks me through the exercise again and again until I get it. Even after a massage my back never felt as good as it does after a training. Crystal is worth every penny if it keeps me out of pain and her prices are very very reasonable especially because I signed up for a series. She really makes Pilates fun and not too overwhelming, check her out if you have low back pain, you have nothing to loose and everything to gain.
Crystal has been very helpful in my recovery from a bad breakup. Through a guided meditation, I was able to cut the final cords of attachment that had been difficult for me to completely let go of. I recommend using Crystal and her unique gifts to help in your own personal transformation. This could be related to relationships, business, or health of body and mind.
Also, if anyone hates their cottage cheese thighs (or anything; and NOT to body-shame, because I am 100% against that), contact Crystal Miel Cossey, personal trainer, amazing performer, and Pilates (becoming certified) trainer. She is amazing, patient, lovely . . . . more adjectives than I can think of. She spent more time than most mortals would explaining how to make a "snow angel" (with my arms) to this SoCal lady.
