About

My name is Kristelle Chatagneau, and I absolutely love language and linguistics. I want to help others succeed in learning a language so that they retain everything I teach them and don’t have to look for another tutor or come back to me. My goals when teaching are to make sure my students are enjoying themselves, feel comfortable, and understand everything they are learning. I have been teaching Spanish and English on the side for a couple years and although I am still young and in college, my experience and knowledge in language and culture and my understanding in how to properly teach a language is very deep.

The curriculum is custom made for each student based on needs and ability. I can go slow or fast, and the tools I use to teach are different based on the student’s learning abilities. I aim for retention and have never had a student fail or struggle after taking my lessons.

I enjoy teaching language because it brings me joy to see others learn to speak and understand what they previously couldn’t. Doing so allows them to connect with others and grow their ability to connect and that is what I aim to do.

She was very pleasant to have and catered to my interests. Her 1:1 classes are extremely helpful, and I was able to get a lot out of working with her.

I hired Kristelle because we were talking about something related to Spanish. I tend to make a lot of jokes about me not knowing Spanish so when she told me shes helped those who are like me, where they are in a Hispanic household but dont know it, really made me want to give it a try. Also, she works really well w/ peoples budgets.
Shes helped me be more aware of how I say things. Shes made a lot of things (such as grammar, structure, basics) more understandable/clear. Doing one on one where I can nag her with a lot of questions has helped a ton and has gotten me to be able to speak a little more comfortably w/ my family.
I feel pretty good about the growth so far. I feel the more advice she gives me I can have a stronger foundation to build off of even after the sessions are done,

I hired Kristelle because she is someone who I feel I can trust, and she proved it before day one even started with her thoroughness. I told her how I wanted to be able to communicate more with the Latino side of my family as I was never taught much Spanish growing up besides my words and phrases my dad would use. I chose to enroll in her program in order to aid my career as an actor as well in order to book more roles in addition to speaking with my family and friends. Her schedule is flexible, and she is willing to work with different financial situations. The welcoming nature of her lessons made me feel at ease, and comfortable no matter how good or bad I thought I did.
Krsitelle has helped me understand the grammar rules, and syntax of Spanish with simple yet effective sayings that are repeated throughout the lessons. These have assisted with ingraining words and vocabulary into my memory to build a foundation for more advanced and complex sentences.
I feel really good with my growth so far. I feel comfortable reading and writing, and I am working on getting used to hearing and speaking the language. I have had conversations with my dad in Spanish (it is his first language) via text, and he is impressed with how far I’ve come

Frequently asked questions

The first thing I do is send them a questionnaire to determine if they are a good fit for me. The ideal student is respectful, reliable, and ambitious. Afterward, I will hold a 30-minute call with them to get to know the student more.

If they are a good fit for me, I will quote them and find out what level they are at for the language they are learning. I do so by giving them a placement test online (which they can also print and send back to me via email) and grade it. I also look to anazlyze their learning abilities so that I may properly introduce the language to them. Afterward, I create a curriculum that works for the student based on their learning skills and what level they are at for the language.

Also, I provide payment plans for all of my programs, so I can work with most, if not all, budgets.

I was a Spanish language major in college, and my language teachers from high school and university taught me how to properly and effectively teach a language. Furthermore, I have been tutoring Spanish and English since 2016. My students always excelled after they completed my programs, which have also evolved as time passed.

My prices are usually not revealed until I have the post-questionnaire call with them. From that call, I am able to deduct which of my programs works best for them and provide them with their options. I offer payment plans with all of my programs as well, so there is room for flexibility as well.

Typically, I charge based on the program and package they choose. I have in person, blended, and online programs. My prices branch off of these programs into a total of 9 different packages, all of them standard, silver, and premium.

I started teaching because I want to help people connect with themselves and others. There is a lot of joy and growth that comes from learning a language, and I want to share that experience with all of my students.

I have worked with high school students, college students, and working adults of all ages. My approach to each one is different based on what they need. Some prefer pen and paper lessons, others prefer a presentation. Some need to hear the whole lesson, and some need to take notes for the whole thing. Whatever their learning preference and style is, I adjust the curriculum for them.

One of my students has only been with me for 2 months, and he is already able to hold long conversations in Spanish with his dad. Furthermore, he informed me that he has been feeling more connected with his culture and more confident. This warmed my heart, and I am proud of his growth. I cannot wait to graduate him from my program because by then he will be nearly fluent in Spanish.

Repetition. Practice. Every day for at least 15 minutes, write or talk to yourself in Spanish. This kind of repetition will encourage the retention of the language and will help students perform better during the lessons.
