How did you get started teaching?
I started simply teaching a few friends here and there and was told that I am extremely patient when I teach and am very informative. I will start taking videos of my teachings and post them on YouTube as well.
What types of students have you worked with?
Two of my students have been young moms in their early 30’s and three of my students have been older than me wanting to learn more modern techniques.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
i had a very special request for a little girls dress for the day that she was going to be adopted. She was 4 and had a very specific want for her “gotcha day” dress. It had to be purple with lots of sparkle, three quarter sleeve, a big bow in the back and it must be able to twirl beautifully. I made it to her perfection and she was adopted in the beautiful dress of her dreams.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be ready to take video for extra learning at home as well as take notes on specific things you may have questions on.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What kind of things will you be sewing. Make sure you find a teacher who specializes in that specific item.
