My philosophy of teaching piano and music is an integrated, individualistic approach. My responsibility as a teacher is to tap into the enthusiasm of the student - what excites them and captivates them about music and nurture that curiosity. While covering the spectrum of theory, technique, and depth of sounds - it is also important to keep it fresh with innovative approaches to learning different concepts and I achieve this using many different ways honed over the years. 'Practice' has become a loaded word with learning music and I encourage individuals to be self-motivated from their own desire to learn and reap the benefits of what 'practi ... View Profile

I have been involved in music since the age of 15. Went to Aspen School, then Yale University, then U.C. Berkeley. I worked my whole adult life at the SF Conservatory, finally retired. I now teach privately, at the San Francisco High School for the Arts, and I teach group lessons for the Golden Gate Philharmonic (a youth orchestra). I enjoy all of this very much. My web site will show you the wide range of work I do --- www.aldenjenks.com. I was director of the Conservatory's Computer Music Studio, so I can teach subjects in that area as well. ... I have been playing music and composing my whole life. When I was 6, I began studying piano, developing a love of jazz, pop and R&B as I grew older. At Berkeley High School, I played in the world renowned jazz ensemble under Sarah Cline, traveling to Cuba in 2016. I also studied with Susan Muscarella, the founder of the California Jazz Conservatory, for several years. After high school, I enrolled in Pomona College, where I am going into my senior year studying French. During my time in college, I have balanced my academic pursuits with my musical ones, with the goal of working full time as a musician after graduation. In addition to my s ... View Profile

Darwin Siegaldoud Guitar And Theory

I've been tutoring private music lessons and actively playing in bands for ten years. I love every aspect of music from the initial fragment of melody or lyrics to the orchestration, development, and performance. I Majored in theory and composition at Santa Barbara City College and studied production and recording at Ex'pressions to familiarize myself with Ableton and Logic Pro. Since then I've developed an effective system to push myself and my students to achieve musical excellence and creative freedom, and I love opportunities to share it. ... View Profile
