What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Evaluation of what is wanted to be learned and what level to begin with.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Each subject has it's own pricing. Classes with 3 or more students are the most economical.
Sewing lessons-individual $30/hour
Private Sewing classes 3 or more students-$35/1.5 hour class/student
Reading Tutoring-First lesson and evaluation FREE then $30 per hour per child (at least once per week)
Essential Oils FREE 1.5 hour classes, private info sessions as well
Color Code/Relationship training- Free 1 hour then personalized training workshops (prices vary depending on size of group, length of sessions, location.)
Private Art parties $200 for up to 10 children, for 4 hours. includes set up, clean up, all materials etc.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching by home schooling my children, then in the public and charter schools, then into city Parks and Recreation centers.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with just about every age and ability level.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am currently teaching in Orinda and Concord cities both "My First Art Class" and Sewing classes.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask Questions. A good teacher asks you a lot of questions. We try to make an accurate evaluation of where to begin and where we are going.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is your budget? What is your time availability? How often to meet per week? How many weekly lessons or classes? Do you have a specific goal or project?
