Rare Bird Makers' Studio

Rare Bird is a gift shop, gallery & studio in Oakland, California. We feature independent artists, and makers from California & the U.S. Founded in 2010 by maker & arts educator, Erica Skone-Rees, Rare Bird's focus is on celebrating creativity and cultivating community.

Rare Bird offers a carefully curated selection of workshops in art, crafts, meditation and magic in our Makers' Studio. We also lead team building workshops and private parties. Classes are led by the Erica, our founder and over 45 artists from the Bay Area.

We love the Bay Area and are so appreciative of our Oakland community.

I opened Rare Bird as an artist and maker almost 8 years ago. I have a background in teaching and have been a creative being since birth. My FAVORITE thing in the world is to be creative with community. When teaching workshops, my goal is to reduce the volume of your inner critic and turn up the fun, freedom and creative productivity. Leave feeling good about yourself with something you made in hand.
