Beef Up Volleyball
About
Volleyball runs in my family. My Dad has been a volleyball fanatic for over 40 years and I have been playing competitively for 20 years starting when I joined the University of Georgia volleyball team.
I have written a paper on volleyball for fun. I'm a nut about volleyball, I can make it fun, and get you up to speed quicker than anyone can. I'll share my paper "Volleyball's On My Mind" with you and you will see how I have broken down the game in an extrememly detailed way that makes volleyball more fun because I'm either winning or learning to be better.
I currently play competitive 2 on 2 Men's volleyball and, while I play often, I enjoy helping others get better. With humility, I often help players who are very good, get better. I remember just about each and every coach I've had over the years and exactly what they taught me that made a difference in my personal game, and I want to be that person for new and younger players.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Ask a ton of questions, find out what they think they are confident with, what they want to work on and if they're going to try out for a team or they just want to have fun with friends because those are obviously two different work ethics. I'm happy to work with anyone who wants to find love in my favorite sport.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
20 years of competitive play including Division 1 College Indoor Volleyball and about 10 years of Beach Volleyball Tournament Experience
Hopeful for one of my students to get a college scholarship!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I'm just starting this thing up again post covid so right now I'm charging $20 per player per lesson. Lesson will last 45 min to an hour. A lesson will usually have 2-3 people at it to start.
Willing to negotiate with you if you pay multiple lessons upfront or bring a friend.
I bring a huge bag of balls and we meet in South Mission at the nets.
You just bring water and a smile!
How did you get started teaching?
My Mom has tells me I was born a good teacher because according to her, I break things down easy and make them easy to understand.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginners all the way to Pros.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Georgia Bulldogs are National Champions!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure they played some sort of competitive ball. If they didn't play in college or play AA, AAA or Open Tournaments they're just not going to have had effective coaching from which they can be the bridge to your development.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Am I going to try out for a competitive volleyball team one day and how many hours do I need to devote to getting to be the player I want to be and be on the teams I want to be on? And who's going to support me!?
