What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
🏐 Currently coaching 2v2 beach volleyball at South Mission Beach.
🏐 Coached indoors 4A high school men's volleyball program.
🏐 Coached indoors 4A high school women's volleyball program.
🏐 Coached indoors for middle school boys & girls volleyball program.
How did you get started teaching?
I have competed in numerous 2v2 volleyball tournaments for over 17 years. Initially, I played through the Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA) with events hosted at the University of California at Davis, and California State University, Chico. I also competed in the USA Volleyball Grass Nationals event at Lake Tahoe over several years and placed in the top two standings for these events. Later in my career, I moved to Southern Nevada and won a number of two-man volleyball tournaments through the Nevada Outdoor Volleyball Association (NOVA) and the Utah Outdoor Volleyball Association (UOVA). Most recently, I have competed in tournaments with the California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA) and placed in the top three for numerous tournaments, including events held at: Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, South Mission Beach and Ocean Beach, California.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students who have had no experience at all. After one session, many were amazed at the results they achieved. I show you step-by-step the correct form for passing (bumping), setting, spiking and serving the ball.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
There are so many of them that I can think of, but I remember distinctly one of the girls I coached years ago found me through social media and told me that she received a full-ride scholarship for indoor volleyball. She thanked me for being her coach and was excited to share the news with me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are looking to hire the best, be sure to start with me. I will share the knowledge, wisdom and know-how with you during our sessions. Be prepared to learn and have fun while playing volleyball with me.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Provide a little background about you and what are your goals for the private session. What would you like to see out of the training?
