Frequently asked questions

After our initial introductory consultation, it is important to know students goals and what is important to the student. We are all unique individuals and I taylor my lessons to the individual needs of my student. Based on my many years of teaching, music is universal and there are many ways of teaching. I always find methods that are most effective and enjoyable.

I have been teaching for over 30 years. I hold a Masters degree in Piano Pedagogy and Musicology. I have also published number of articles and musicology research papers. Some of my students are also teachers and perform in US and Europe. I am also a founder of Bay Area Music Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting music education and events localy in the Bay Area.

My pricing depends on lesson time (30 minutes or more).

For my younger students 5-7 years old, I recommend 2- 30 minute lessons a week.

For students 8-12 years old, I recommend 2-45 minute lessons a week or a minimum of 60 minutes once a week.

For my older students 13-18 years old, a minimum of 60 minute lesson per week is recommended to achive a desired result.

For my adult and professional students 1.5 hours per week is highly encouraged.

I come from a family of musicians and educators. Teaching is in my blood and I absolutly love to share my gift of music with my students and fellow musicians. There is nothing greater in this world than making a difference in someone's life and music and teaching is my passion and lifo long commitment.

I have worked with all types of students. For me, there is NO TYPE. We are all musical, talent is natural but skill is developed through hard work and dedication. I work with students as young as 5 and up to 75.

Ask questions, communicate your goals and what is important to you. Are you taking lessons for fun? Are you taking lesson for a different reason? Ask if the teacher has a specific method or a variety of methods. Ask if students are given an opportunity to perform at recitals or competitions.

Am I ready to commit and take classes? Music requires discipline and practice. Playing an instrument is the same as playing sports, practice between lessons is important for further progress and skill development.
