How did you get started teaching?
I have been sewing since I was 6 or 7 years old. My grandma taught me on her all metal, treadle Singer sewing machine. It was love at first stitch.
Since then I have taken multiple college-level fashion and tailoring classes at Academy of Art University as well as courses with Industry Leaders throughout the United States, Europe and Brazil.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with students of all ages and skill levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Project Runway is one of my faves. I also enjoy watching the runway shows at NYFW.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you work with someone who takes your goas into account, whether it be apparel making, quilting, alterations, patternmaking, etc.
Sewing is all about practice. The more you do it, the better you get at it.
Life is already too complicated as it is; let sewing take you back to a time when things weren't so hectic.
While it is important to have a goal and work hard toward it, remember to enjoy the process and to be forgiving.
