What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Potential students try two classes to assess their interests and our instruction. Afterwards, we meet to discuss their goals and see if becoming a member of our TRIBE works for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over 20 years of martial arts training in Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu. Bestowed the title of 'Sifu' by Grandmaster Tat Mau Wong, one of the most influential martial artist of the past century.
Former Chinese Kickboxing (Sanshou) national champion representing the USA at the World Wushu Championships and Pan American Games four times. Fought abroad in Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Fought domestically in Texas, Seattle, Fresno, and Florida.
Lastly, former credentialed school teacher specializing in Mathmatics and Science.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing varies based upon membership, but all memberships benefit from unlimited classes and classes available everyday of the week.
How did you get started teaching?
I love Kung Fu and Kickboxing. It has helped me achieve my personal and professional life immensely. I just want to share its benefits with others.
What types of students have you worked with?
Our academy accepts students as young as 3. Our oldest student is 80. You're never too young to start. No previous experience necessary! "A journey of a thousand miles, starts with a single step."
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
When we have our black belt ceremonies, it is a privilege to be part of a student's journey from their first class to their transformation into a black belt. It is not only an accomplishment for the student, but for myself, as their teacher.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try their classes and assess everything from the instruction, the community, the cleanliness of the facility, and the overall energy of the place.
