Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process is "Hands On." You will work everytime you are in my class. There is never a dull moment!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Criminal Justice which allowed me to work with a completely different audience; A PRISON.
I've studied "Meisner Technique" at Carnage Hall - New York City with Louise Lasser and my acting skills were developed while studying with Uta Hagen from HB Studios.
I Also studied dance with Frank Hatchett and Henry LeTang at Broadway Dance Center New York City.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is according to the student and their project/goals.
How did you get started teaching?
I followed the footsteps of my mentor, Stephen Rosenfield from the American Comedy Institute in New York City. With his workshop, I was able to develop an Act and the rest is history. The difference is, I am still a working comedian.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have dealt with a rainbow spectrum of students. From funny felons to brilliant billionaires. I've worked with cancer patients and brought smiles to their faces after Chemo. Teen students on the Spectrum have been clients as well as Residence of Rehab facilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently performed for a group of teenagers in a drug rehabalitation center. They have been cut off from all platforms of social media as well as radio and television. Stand-up Comedy made them so happy, that many of them approached me wanting to do it as a career change. Having a felon as a student is very different; It's not the student, but their audience you worry about. I'm very versatile in my cordiality towards everyone.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I will tell the student to not pay so much attention to their credits as much as the comedic skills that their "potential coach" may have.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Is this really an important question that the teacher needs to answer? Or should you challenge yourself and find the answer within you.
No question is too stupid to ask - better to be prepared than to look like an amateur.
