How did you get started teaching?
I am striving for greatness in all aspects of martial arts, and that includes teaching it. When I taught group classes I've found that I want to give everybody a great amount of attention to ensure that they are all progressing. It has proven very difficult to do but with private sessions, I feel that I can give all of myself to help them reach their potential. I love being able to track progress and plan each session according to the individual, I feel this also benefits me as I am learning more and more about my craft, what works and doesn't work, etc. I am constantly improving myself to be the best that I can be for my students, but my students have also helped me improve by giving me their best every time I get a chance to work with them.
What types of students have you worked with?
Kids, teens and adults.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about what they do. Passion ensures quality. Also find someone who is also a student of the game, this ensures that they are constantly evolving and improving in their craft and how they teach it.
