Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always have a conversation with each student before we work together so that I have a good understanding of the student's goals - whether it's just trying yoga for the physical benefits, working on specific postures, preparing for yoga classes at yoga studios, specific assistance and help healing the body, meditation practices or breathwork, relaxation and stress reduction. I have many tools and experience to help you reach your goals with health and wellness.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a 500-hr certified Yoga Instructor (one of the hightest levels of education through the Yoga Alliance), certified Nutritional Consultant, Wellness Coach, Life Coach and educated in sports psychology. I have many years of schooling, and even more years of hands on experience of health and wellness training in the corporate world (I managed the Wellness Program for multiple top Fortune 100 and Fortune 10 companies in the world).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have an hourly rate for individual sessions. If you are looking for a smaller group of 2+ individuals I can work with you on pricing in that situation for a shared pricing option. I also offer specials for signing up for 5 or 10 lessons up-front.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always had a deep passion for health and I understand how optimal wellness involves both the body and mind. Over the years, yoga has transformed not only my physical health, but improved nearly all aspects of my life.
In my early 20s I struggled with a pretty intense digestive disorder. After many years of turning to medical doctors, I realized that I was the key to overcoming this diagnosis and decided to take action. I was not going to play a victim to this disease and simply cover up my symptoms with medications prescribed by the doctors. I decided read every book I could get my hands on, spoke with various nutritionists and naturopaths, became certified in a variety of health and wellness specialties including nutrition, food psychology, and health and wellness coaching. All of this research - and finding conflicting recommendations – was overwhelming and frustrating. I felt like my body was a monster attacking my soul.
It was when I turned to a regular yoga practice that my health truly began to turn around.
I initially began a sporadic yoga practice to complement my diving career in college, but when I made yoga a regular practice everything shifted. Not only my health, but ultimately my career path and my passion for life re-emerged more fully.
I have personally experienced the shifts in life from focusing on my mind, body and soul’s desires. My deepest aspiration is to guide others along their personal path to wellbeing and happiness.
I teach yoga and coach clients with a sense of kindness, compassion and support. Whether you are new to yoga, or an experienced practitioner, I will help you deepen your practice to restore your body, mind and soul.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught yoga to people of all ages, from 7 - 74 years old. I have worked with children and students in their 70s, and at all different experience levels from beginner to advance. I have also worked with individuals with injuries and worked with them through their healing process.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what you are looking to get out of a yoga or meditation session. Are you looking for physical, mental or even emotional benefits? Are you looking to get stronger or more flexible, and/or looking for yoga to help with stress relief and overal health? There are so many wonderful approaches we can take with a yoga practice, and I am here to help navigate you throught the process in order to feel your absolute best!
