I teach Violin and Piano in person only. Sometimes my home is open for teaching and I also have a space in Van Nuys that is open. I am in Sherman Oaks. I have played Violin as a professional all of my adult life. I teach classical music. I love helping children learn the tools and skills that Music brings into our lives. I am patient and kind and a good teacher. Please, parents, do NOT go out and buy a Violin or even worse, do not order a Violin from Amazon. This is an Instrument not an electronic gismo or game. Thank you

I cater to every individual's needs based on their level and goals. I emphasize my curriculum on the basics because it is the foundation to what you'll learn in the future (scales and proper technique). I also use the Suzuki Method to teach the basics and pieces for my beginner students. The first lesson will consist of an introductory lesson which contains the following: 1.) short informal interview to get to know each other 2.) the student will play a musical excerpt of his/her choice 3.) I'll provide feedback on what the student needs to work on and provide a lesson plan that suits the student. I believe that lessons shouldn't tedious and ...

Kristin B. says, "Erica is a fantastic violin instructor whom my mother found via lessons.com back in February. She's very knowledgeable, personable, patient and a gentle soul who wants to help students achieve their best self whilst playing this beautiful instrument. I've been having lessons once a week ever since and they are very affordable, even during the pandemic (thank goodness I still have a job). I highly recommend her to anyone who's looking for an instructor." Read more

Dora S. says, "Mr. Spencer is an excellent acting coach for me and my daughter. He has taught us via online lessons for 9 months. But of us are beginners but we have excelled and are mastering acting quickly. Mr. Spencer is a vastly knowledgable, professional, encouraging instructor. My daughter was cast as Anne in her school's production of Diary of Anne Frank, which to me is just amazing. I have call backs myself for a role in a play at my local community theatre. Mr. Spencer is helping us realize are dreams, and to cultivate our passions. I highly recommend him." Read more

Hello! My name is Jacob, and I have been a violinist for 20 years. I also play the cello (a little bit), Piano (a little bit), and Viola. I intend to give students the same opportunity to excel at music that I was given by my teacher when I started taking violin lessons at 7 years old. I will personalize the curriculum for each student based on their individual needs. The particular book series that I use is the Suzuki method. This is because my violin teacher used it to teach me, and because Suzuki has instructions with pictures on how to hold the bow, stand properly, and hold the instrument with correct form. This helps the student practice

I'm a 74 year old retired man. I have always loved acting but have had some minor challenges due to bad eye sight and I'm not that computer savvy. Jim helped me learn how to use an I-pad my grand daughter gave me to help me expand fonts to read scripts. Though I'm only doing this so far for a hobby, I can see huge improvement in my ability to memorize scripts and act convincingly. Jim encouraged me to audition for the community senior center's drama club. I couldn't believe it I got right in and enjoying meeting new people (I'm widowed). Jim has been a Godsend. I'm finding new joy and I'm enjoying seeing local theatre productions. I appreciate his kind, patient, and professional matter. Acting lessons with Jim is what got me through the horrible isolation during Covid quarantine. He is also incredibly knowledgable on health such as veganism, breathing/meditation and is encouraging me to get into a healthier lifestyle. My voice/sinuses improved after giving up dairy. I used to get chronic sinusitis. So I feel acting has been beneficial to my overall health. Though Jim is pricier than other teachers in the area... I believe you pay for what you get. The extra money I pay is well worth it. The two other acting coaches I used before Jim...were mediocre and treated me like an invalid. Jim continues to inspire me to be the best I can be in all areas of my life. I consider him a good friend and he is one of the best educators out there.

Dan is an amazing teacher and all around awesome guy. I started with Dan about 3 years ago thinking that there is no way I could learn how to play the electric guitar at the age of 40?! I'm so happy to report that I now can play so many of the songs I love and consider myself an intermediate player. Dan is super patient and totally open to trying new songs, even some of my depressing Joy Division favorites. Oh and talk about patience....he also teaches my daughter and her friend acoustic guitar and has to teach them One Direction and Bieber songs. Now that's patience! Highly, highly recommended.
