Authentic Voice
About
I work with students, professonal actors and on set. I have 30+ years of experience with working with students and have taught in Universities, drama schools and professionally for film and theatre companies.
I have a Masters in Voice and Communication, have written six books on the art of speaking, and have myself worked professionally as a performer and understand the challenges and needs as a professional voice user.
My voice held me back as a professional actor. I slightly over pitched and had a country accent. I knew it limited me in the roles I could play. I wanted to play classical leads and was passionate about Shakespeare but I also knew that unless my voice became more grounded such roles would not be on offer. My voice was the key to opening up my acting ability and achieving the work I wanted to do as an actor.
A versatile, authentic voice is what every speaker needs but few focus on it - it is this area of work, that provides the actor with a solid foundation and technique essential for securing those leading roles - and for any professional speaker (lawyer/politician) it is a must.
There is nothing more satisfying as a coach to see a client command attention due to their vocal training.
