I teach primitive pottery. Beginning weaving of most traditional sorts - from Navajo style tapestry to 8 harness, simple frame looms to 8 harness floor looms. Also Wet Felting, Spinning and Dyeing. My absolute dye specialty is natural dyes in two categories, Traditional European dyes such as indigo, brazilwood, etc , and Native Local Plant dyes such as Rabbitbrush and sage. My touch with students is to excite enthusiasm for these ancient arts and present them as a fresh, contemporary experience.
I LOVE to see the Light Bulb go on! The Ah Ha moment of Oh I get it!!!! I am a people person, and I adore my creative students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I identify the student's goals and interest, then design a class around that in the case of private students. In groups classes I tend to intuit and ask for feedback so that each person's learning style can be addressed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been weaving "officially" since 1982. Studied with several teachers in different genres. Experience is the best teacher! Dyeing and spinning came later. My love of chemistry has made natural and chemical dyeing a passion since 1998. Spinning since 1999.
