Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The training process begins with a conversation (by phone, Google Meet or in person) involving the student-athlete and his/her parent(s), or the adult. We discuss playing experience, ambitions, as well as commitment level and goals. It must be a fit both ways. An in person evaluation then follows (virtual evaluations and training are also available). During the evaluation, the trainee is put through a series of drills to gauge their ability, skill, work ethic and character. Afterwards, MONDO Athletics will develop a training plan specific to each athlete. Sessions are then scheduled and fulfilled. Benchmarks are set and progress is tracked along the way.

How did you get started teaching?
I played until my freshman year in college, and an injury forced me to cut back and I turned to coaching and training at that point. My kids also influenced me early on to get into coaching. They grew up competing in a variety of sports (basketball, soccer, cross country, volleyball, swimming primarily). I then started volunteering my time to help underprivileged kids by hosting multi-sport camps and clinics. Training youths at a more competitive level then followed.
What types of students have you worked with?
Adults and boys and girls of all ages and skill levels. I've also trained people with physical disabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Those random late night text messages from a player or his parents after a breakout game are always nice to receive. The phone calls after a young man or girl receives a college offer are also great!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the vibe is right. It's a two way relationship, so really think about your commitment level and goals, and ask plenty of questions.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How serious am I about my sport?
What has my experience been so far?
What level of competition do I want to achieve?
What are my short-term and long-term goals to get there?
How are my grades (for active students)?
