Professional speaker, trained voice artist, trained linguist, Distinguished Toastmaster, creator and producer of "Successful Interviewing in English" and "Writing Cover Letters and Resumes", a 112-video MOOC course hosted on Coursera, I offer high-level coaching to help you improve your spoken English performance -- whether in interviews, pitches to investors, or professional conference presentations. I teach American English Pronunciation at the University of Maryland, and continue to be an active member of Toastmasters, an international public speaking organization.
Your voice is your presence in the world. If you do not learn to use it, you remain invisible.
I have been fortunate enough to become Professor Duquette’s student since entering my Ph.D. program at the University of Maryland. I had a Chinese accent and was uncomfortable in Public speaking at the beginning. I turn to Professor Duquette for help, as he is indeed an expert in this field and passionate in helping international students improving pronunciation. He completely understands the nuanced difference between an American accent and another accent. He delicately organizes his course materials, and introduces other resources such as toastmaster clubs, jazz chants. All of them are very helpful. He always effectively, patiently and kindly coaches students. I especially adore his profession. For example, he sets up individual meetings section in order to help us one by one. Professor Duquette is not only an expert but also a true friend. I wish him all the best in the future!
Typically, one hour per week with assignments between meetings.
