Djerlens Chery
About
Hello, I'm Djerlens Chery, a Haitian artist known for my mural work. I studied visual art at Dillard High School/Center for the Arts and continued my education at Broward College's Visual Arts & Design Academy (VADA). My art has been showcased in various prestigious venues, from museums to parks. I've also had the privilege of teaching art to diverse age groups in Broward County.
My approach to art involves deep community engagement. I collaborate with local residents to understand the unique identity of a space and use this knowledge to create meaningful murals. I seek historical, environmental, and cultural elements to establish a sense of place and foster connections.
I'm passionate about using art to provoke reflections on community and social issues. By working with me, students can expect a dedicated artist who brings creativity, technical skill, and a commitment to making a positive impact through art. I look forward to sharing my experiences and guiding students in exploring the transformative power of art.
