Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I find out where they are in their process so I can personalize their experience with my method of teaching. Every person is different and I want to make their experience custom to where they are and what they want to learn. In my experience their is no "typical" way of teaching meditation because meditation is an individual experience.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended The University of Holistic Theology where I studied for 2 years to receive a Certification. Ater that I worked with clients in a therapy center both individually and in large groups. I love working with clients because I get to see the changes that happen for them.
How did you get started teaching?
I've been practicing meditation for about 16 years and developed a passion for it. I then began to research it to see how it works and that's when I learned about all the benefits that can be achieved with meditating. I then decided to become an instructor.
What types of students have you worked with?
I worked for several years in a therapy center where I worked with people with different degrees of Dual Diagnosed mental health challenges including depression, bi-polar, anti social behaviors and addictions. Meditation was a great tool for their recovery.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Working with a private client who has several challenges with behavioral disorders and also is hearing impared. I have seen great improvments happening with her focus and drive. She is amazing and make me very proud of what I do.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't have any expectations about meditation. There are many different methodologies in meditation practices. I focus in mindfulness, however, I introduce other forms to my clients depending on their needs. If there are expectations about what a client "thinks" meditation is, they may become disconnected from learning what it CAN be.
