I’ve always wanted to learn how to sew. I took a class for couple months, and found sewing to be complicated. Years later, when I had time, decided to try again... and I found Ms. Betty.
I am soo happy I did!! She simplified everything for me, and the world of sewing became fun! I’ve come a long way, and now I can sew pretty much anything I want. Miss Betty is a brilliant teacher, with a great sense of humor, I recommend her!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Finding out what their goals are and make it happen.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Licensed interior designer in the state of Florida, 25 years experience, teaching Sewing and design. Worked backstage for Victoria’s Secret fashion show when they filmed here for CBS. Also worked photo shoots on South Beach. I also teach men and boys.

How did you get started teaching?
When my daughter was three months old, I saw an outfit that I wanted that was over $100 and probably used a half a yard of fabric. I started to take a class in sewing and fell in love and have done nothing but for the last 25 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
Everybody from a 5 year-old to a 65-year-old man. Everybody Has to start somewhere. I also do product development if you need guidance with an idea that you want to make. I also do workshops for service hours and groups.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I loved working backstage for the Victoria’s Secret fashion show when they filmed on South Beach for CBS and after that photo shoots on South Beach, so much fun
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that they are flexible and can teach you what you want to know instead of what they want you to know.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Exactly what their goals are and what their expectations are. I try to make the lesson, fun, interesting and make sure you learn more than you thought you would !
