Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Email correspondence / texts / phone conversation to begin with, followed by a mutually agreeable schedule, timeline and communication channels to interact throughout and work together in a timely manner at the assigned rate and frequency.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
AFAA / ACE certified, 5 black belts, 2 Masters degrees; 30 years of training, experience and teaching working with experts in the field (e.g. Jax Beach Police, SWAT, Homeland Security, US Marshals). I'm currently a group exercise instructor at both the Sawgrass Country Club, Marsh Landing Country Club & the Jacksonville Golf & Country Club. I'm also teaching courses as an adjunct professor at UNF. I've also been coaching and consulting with clients, (both personally and professionally) for many years, all with 5 star reviews.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Competitive pricing depending on the type of lesson or service provided (e.g. fitness vs. self defense vs. life coaching vs. career counseling)
How did you get started teaching?
Passions pursued as hobbies at first, then into part-time jobs and finally into a full-time profession as I pursued purpose, not paper (money).
What types of students have you worked with?
All types, from children to students to adults to senior citizens.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I trained 1,000 employees in safety & security measures, including active shooter scenarios, for a local insurance company. One of their employees was shot during the Pulse Nightclub shooting. He survived, and was in the audience during the training. I was very grateful for the opportunity to help serve & protect others.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Inspect what you expect. Take some time to get acquainted with me. Let's review and discuss where you are and what you're looking for. If you can afford a professional service that I offer, then you can afford to take the time to inspect what you expect.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Your schedule, availability, timeline, place to conduct business, and your budget.
