Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I share my background in health and fitness and give them a tour of the facility. Next, we sit down for a basic consultation, which covers health conditions, limitations, and of course individual goals. We can then move to the next step of scheduling the first session. During that initial session, we will determine if we are a good fit. After that, package is created and we work on scheduling the rest of the month around the students schedule.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BS in psychology where I hold additional certifications in Women's Studies. Following college, I found that I didn't feel my best and started an exercise program. I felt so good that I knew I needed to change the type of "counseling" I offered. I wanted to share my new passion with the world. Soon after, I changed my entire career. I started with a certification at World Fitness Association, followed my my Level 1 CrossFit Certification and CrossFit Kids Certification. I started my first business, Aspire Total Wellness, which was an all Women's Concierge Personal Training Business in 2011. From there, I opened a co-ed CrossFit facility in 2015, expanded in 2018, and the rest is history. I still have a passion for Personal Training Clients, but do offer a wide variety of services at my gym.

How did you get started teaching?
There was a period during my early 20's that I didn't feel myself. I was finishing up my college degree, but knew I needed to take control of my health. I started an exercise program, which was a challenge at first but I stuck with it. I lost 20 lbs and felt great. I realized that I didn't know just how bad I felt until I felt better. I was living an exhausted, unhealthy life and I wanted to help get others out of the same funk I was in. It started with marathon running, forming support groups or friends to reach their goals. That led to becoming a certified PT and running kettlebell classes on the beach. Soon after, I started taking one on one PT clients, saved up, and opened my own gym. From an unhealthy, tired college student at 190 lbs to a super healthy gym owner at 135 lbs with tons of experience. Let me share my knowledge with YOU!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide variety of people including kids, teen, adults, and seniors. I have trained people with injuries and health limitations by providing modifications to certain exercise when needed.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, I helped a new client get from couch to 5k in 90 days. She became so motivated that she immediately signed up and completed a 6 miler last weekend; now we are working on toning. She changed her diet, her daily routine, and her mindset. She is settling into her new lifestyle with healthy hobbies and tons of energy.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be sure to schedule a consultation and ask a lot of questions! You need to get to know your trainers values, training style, and see their facility. Keep in mind, you will be spending an hour of one-on-one time with your new trainer in the facility, so be sure that you are comfortable and on the same page. The trainer should have no problem letting you schedule a one time session with no commitment before you purchase an entire package; they will be confident that you will be eager to sign up after the amazing session they provide.
