About

Hi there! Alicia (she/her) is a Costume Designer located in Atlanta, GA.

Alicia learned to sew when she was 12 and cannot remember a time that she wasn't doodling or had some sort of art project going. She was lucky enough to be able to turn her bedroom into her craft room. She got her Bachelor of Arts Degree in California for Costume Design in Theater and currently designs and builds costumes in the Atlanta area.

Alicia believes that anyone who wants to be creative should be given the space and time to do so and we can't wait to share her creative spirits with yours!

She love teaching and watching the skills come together for her students. It is so much fun to create together and I can't wait to see what comes from each class.

I have always wanted to learn how to pattern and make clothes and costumes for quite sometime. I searched on google and I came across Lessons.com and typed in lessons for a beginner in sewing and understanding patterns. Stray Cat Strut ATL answered right away!!!:D I then chatted with Alicia about what I wanted to achieve in sewing and from there, we set up my first class. Working with Alicia has truly been a remarkable experience. She is very kind, patient and makes me feel soo happy and excited to learn all the techniques it takes to make beautiful and amazing clothes. She breaks it down bit by bit, from fabric choice, to reading and understanding patterns, and to sewing certain stitches for certain garments. From each of her lessons, I have gained more confidence and knowledge about using a sewing machine and reading patterns!!!:D

I started with theater camps. We would meet multiple times a week to create a show together. It is amazing to see the campers (age 1st grade - 12th grade) create their own costumes and add pizazz to every project!

I was able to attend the Van Gogh Experience and it was wild!

Hire somone that you vibe with. Make sure that you will have a good time because that's what it's all about!

What exactly do they want to learn? The more specific they are in their goals, the more we can tailor a class to meet their needs.
