I really love teaching students how to improve and enhance their speaking ability as it pertains to English, and how to refine their English speaking skills in terms of correct consonant and vowel pronunication, as well as developing the patterns of stress and intonation needed to speak the English language using a standard American accent. I also enjoy learning about, and being exposed to the idiosyncrascies of other languages, and the cultures of the students with whom I teach.

    Frequently asked questions

I first evaluate the student and find out what specific sounds (vowels, consonants, or both) the student is have difficulty pronouncing. Then I set up a carefully designed Plan of Care that is specific to the needs of the student, and that addresses the challenges the student is having in regards to speaking English. I also set a Home Exercise Program that targets specific sounds that are being addressed in therapy at the word, phrase, sentence, or conversational level that the student can work on outside of the therapy session.

$100.00 for an Initial Evaluation. The evaluation involves the therapist giving the student a test that assesses how he or she pronounces each English vowel, dipthong, trithong, single consonant, and consonant blend (at the isolation level, the word level, the phrase level, and the sentence level). After the evaluation is completed and scored, the therapist decides the level at which the student is going to be most successful to start working on producing the sounds. Goals are written that address the sounds in which the student is demonstrating difficulty, and that are directly related to his/her native language. A time span is also included on the Plan of Care listing the date that the initial evaluation began, and approximately how long the Plan of Care will last until its expiration. A detailed, student specific evaluation report/Plan of Care will be provided for the student. In addition, a Home Exercise Program targeting specific phonemes or sounds will be created and provided.

My treatment fee is $50.00 per 1 hour lesson and a  ($10.00 additional travel fee) is added on to the $50.00 per hour lesson if I have to travel the student's home to provide lesson. I do not offer 30 minute lessons, as 30 minute lessons are not beneficial for the student in terms of the limited time, and I do not offer 45 minute lessons as they tend to conflict with scheduling 1 hour lessons. Lessons are typically provided 1 time per week, or more, depending upon the needs of the student, what is financially possible, and the severity of the need.

I started providing Speech Therapy for pre-school, and school-aged children back in 1996.

I have provided speech and language services for children in the preschool setting, elementary school setting, and the middle school setting. In addition I have also worked with both children, adults, and geriatric patients in the hospital setting (outpatient setting with both adults and children), and (inpatient setting with adults), as well as with young adults in the prison system, and pediatric patients in the private practice setting. I have extensive experience providing therapy for individuals with deficits in the areas of articulation/phonology, receptive and expressive language, pragmatic language, fluency of speech, voice, feeding, and swallowing.

Having one of my students consistently use his /th/ sound in all positions of words correctly and efficiently at the spontaneous, conversational level

Look for a teacher that has a lot of experience in the area of articulation therapy, who has a master's degree in the field of Speech-Language Pathology, is licensed by the state of Georgia, and is certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, and a teacher who is endorsed by other professionals.
