Mr. Johnson has been teaching privately for 20 years in Texas. He currently maintains a large tuba and Euphonium studio at The Woodlands HS north of Houston. When teaching lessons Mr. Johnson can be found performing as a freelance musician with local orchestras, in solo recitals, or with Space City Brass quintet-a brass quintet which he founded. Prior to his current position, Mr. Johnson was a musician in the United States Navy, performing ceremonial duties and public outreach concerts with a wide variety of musical styles including Dixieland, Classical, Rock, R&B, New Orleans style Brass Band, and more. I have been playing saxophone for almost 9 years. Along the way, I have picked up piano, clarinet, flute, baritone/euphonium, trombone , and tuba. During my time studying music, I have learned, and played with, incredible musicians like Nelson Hill (one of Phil Woods' students, and incredible saxophonist), and Karen Zereconsky (an incredibly talented pianist with a pedigree from the Moscow Conservatory, and a PhD from Julliard). Currently, I am studying music ed at Bloomsburg University, where I get to study with experts in the musical field.
