I'm a pretty low key (no pun intended) instructor. I teach one-on-one at the students speed. I believe in learning to play IMEDIATELY without the hassel of reading music. After all, you would'nt expect to speak a new language from a book written in that language. Once you can play a few songs we may (or may not) learn to read music. It's a fast and fun way to learn.
For 40 years and counting as a music teacher, I have acquired different techniques of getting my students to quickly grasp the concept of whatever musical discipline intended. Except for the pipe organ, I own any instrument that I tutor, which include sheet music of all stages. No two students are the same. The technique of music teaching has to be customized to each student. The dynamics of tutoring experience is under my belt. 90% of my students including my whole family still perform in various capacities of music. I have engaged in various musical competitions in the past and it is time to share my knowledge and experiences with ... View Profile

I live on a family farm where my grandsons are starting to learn about planting Loganberries, trapping groundhogs and what bear-scat looks like.... in addition to playing harmonica and guitar. I've had a long career as a software developer but have always been first and foremost, a teacher. As a guitarist, I was brought thru the 60's in a succession of local blues-bands, most notably playing with the great saxophonist Scott Hamilton when he was still the area's best blues-harp player. Scott inspired me to learn Chicago blues and taught me how to play har ... View Profile

I am also a songwriter and will incorporate that process into my teaching if it is something that the student would like to learn as well. I also feel a need to let the student engage in self-learning and direction as this is should be the ultimate goal as a musician. It is my goal as a teacher to ... View Profile
