About

Chicago Urban Ignite is an education and workforce organization based in Chicago, Illinois, serving low-income and socioeconomically disadvantaged families. It provides targeted job training and placement services, CPR/First Aid/AED certification, and youth literacy programs to build practical skills and expand access to opportunity.

Programs include a 10-day Commercial Learner’s Permit (CDL) preparation workshop for residents 18+, covering administrative codes, core knowledge, driving techniques, and maneuvers, with a visit to the Secretary of State Office for permit testing. Participants who complete all requirements may receive job placement support. Through the Morrison Youth Literacy Program, the organization distributes free books and prizes to K–12 students and partners with schools and community groups to host no-cost Free Book Giveaway events. The Lingo Lab offers K–8 tutoring, literacy games, and hands-on activities to strengthen reading and writing.

For workplaces and community organizations across Chicagoland, certified instructors deliver on-site CPR, First Aid, and AED classes for up to 12 participants, with flexible scheduling, official certification upon completion, and discounted pricing for schools and nonprofits.

Chicago Urban Ignite was founded by Angela Gibson, MA.Ed, a licensed school leader and CPR instructor with over 17 years of experience in alternative education and workforce development.
