About
My mission is to teach you everything about sewing in a positive and encouraging environment.
At Making It Sew Fun students learn how to sew progressively at their own pace. We offer a structured curriculum and workshops that empower the home-sewist with the skills necessary to create well-fitted and professionally constructed garments. Another key feature is small class sizes that ensure individual attention.
Weekly sewing classes are available for youth ages 8-17 as well as adult workshops throughout the year. Programs are available for every skill level from beginner to advanced.
Current class offerings include a specialized curriculum designed just for kids and a 7-Level learn-to-sew program for adults.
Students learn how to. . .
operate sewing machines
work with different fabrics
use sewing tools and equipment
read and understand sewing patterns
make garments, crafts, home decorating items, and so much more!
Join us and discover your inner fashionista, designer, or somewhere in-between.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I offer a 7- Level learn-to-sew program for adults from beginner skills in Level 1 to tailoring in Level 7. The Level 1 course covers all the basic skills to get you started. Students learn how to take proper measurements, how to select fabrics, how to cut, ready pattern instructors, construct a garment, and so much more.
I also offer children's sewing lessons after-school and on the weekends. Students work at their own pace in a small class setting of just 4 students per class.

How did you get started teaching?
Hi, I'm Cherice, owner and principal instructor at Making It SewFun.
My sewing journey began as a little girl hand-making clothes for my Barbies. I would use scraps of fabric, paper towels, newspaper or whatever else I could find; much to my mom's frustration (lol).
While in high school, my best friend convinced me to sign-up for home economics so we could be in class together. She elected to take sewing versus cooking so I did as well. I LOVED sewing class and discovered a new passion that set me on a career path in fashion. Ironically my best friend hated sewing and didn't pass. Once my mom saw that I was committed to learning how to sew, she gave me my first sewing machine on my 15 birthday. I've been sewing and creating beautiful things ever since. (Thanks, Mom!)
Today, I enjoy sharing my love for fabric and sewing by teaching others how to sew. It's my hope to inspire the next generation to love working with their hands while gaining an appreciation for the process. Under my direction, students become confident sewist, build self-confidence and practice discipline with each project.
