I have worked as a licensed sign language interperter for 11 years and I am very connected within the Deaf community. I love working with all kinds of people and I will love working with you and helping you grow youir language skills
I love people and especially new languages. It is exciting to notice how similar we all are even if we speak a different languge.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First identify the level whether a beginner on up. Then we begin conversation by focusing on topics that are relevant to the student, ie. their interests, and life experiences. We build conversation each class with new vocabulary, grammar and Deaf Culture. Most importantly we converse together. Practice practice practice is the best way to learn a new language
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 20 years experience working in the Deaf communicty.
11 years as a license sign language interpreter
BA Degree from Northern Illinois University 1979
Certification of Competion from Harper College Sign language interpreting program.

How did you get started teaching?
Having an interest is important, and completing the education to ba able to apply this.

All ages all backgrounds. Some from Deaf families others simply interested.
