Heidi K. says, "I have had a wonderful introduction to guitar with my first pack of lessons from Owen. I was hesitant to purchase lessons online fearful that I would be learning with a great guitar player verses a great teacher. Owen has proven me wrong! He clearly taught many before me; exhibited by his patience, knowledge, lesson planning and valuable feedback. As an adult learner, I am surpising myself each week with my progress due all in part to his teaching! Totally, 100%, recommend. ~Heidi K." Read more

Sean S. says, "Andres creates a learning atmosphere that is both meticulous and amusing; when I was being taught by him, he gave me the tools I needed to treat music with a sense of discipline, but engage the writing process with a sort of unbridled creative energy. Andres does a wonderful job at making the learning process for music fun; one can feel his passion for it to be contagious. He also makes the space feel more collaborative, engaging the students in activities together if possible, eliminating the rigid structures of 'teacher to student' and making it feel more as 'peer-to-peer' studying. Overall, Andres is a passionate and thoughtful teacher who offers a welcoming space to learn about music! " Read more

Kyle was very patient and professional as I was new to learning instruments. He takes the time to figure out the areas where you need more improvement and works with you on them. Each lesson he will address the area where you need more practice from the previous lesson to see how far the improvement is coming along. Kyle Is definitely someone I would recommend to anyone wanting to learn a instrument. He has a lot of vast knowledge of music and is very passionate and experienced at playing and teaching musical instruments.

I've had several lessons with Eliza-Jane so far and they've been wonderful. She's very kind and makes you feel comfortable as a student immediately. We've been focusing quite a bit on my breathing technique and finding ways for me to sing safely in a way that doesn't strain, which has been very important to me. I also want to note that I'm a music theater singer, and two lessons in she already started helping me find good songs for my book. I definitely recommend!!

Andres takes the time to understand student goals, and has a long-term approach. He's organized, clear, and genuinely cares for his students as people, not just what they bring to lessons. Andres invests generously in the individuals he works with, and the fruits of that investment are evident in the growth of his students. I highly recommend working with this thoughtful, kind, and creative teacher.

Are you looking for regular? Or are you looking for awesome? If it’s the latter, then you belong at Altered Stage. I found this glorious place through a Google search, and man - am I happy that I did. As a recreational guitar player with a baseline understanding of how to play, I was looking for a comfortable place to take my playing to the next level. I never imagined that I could engage in top notch music instruction, and also a community of likeminded recreational musicians who couldn’t have been more welcoming and supportive. The icing on the cake for me is the monthly gig. It’s the perfect balance of accountability and fun to keep my musical development moving at my pace while expanding my social circle with genuine people who I can now call friends. I know there are a ton of ways to learn how to play an instrument - I just can’t understand why anyone would do it outside of Altered Stage.
