My passion for music started at around 11 years old. I stumbled across some live videos of my favorite band at the time and when I saw the drummer, that's when I decided I wanted to play drums. Before I got my drums I spent 3 hours every day in Sam Ash learning, and once I got my own kit, I couldn't be stopped. Today, rhythm is part of my life in every single way. I even play beats with my toes and ankles while walking sometimes, and catch rhythms in the sounds of horns, busses, trains, construction, and everything else. I've been playing for about 10 years now, and I've been in bands ranging from Metalcore and Prog Rock to ... View Profile

Music, of any and all forms, has been a major passion of mine ever since I was at least 5, if not younger. Either way, I grew up listening to all types, genres, etc. of music and to this very day I still listen to everything. The way I see it, if you want to be good at what you do musically, you should be exposed to all forms of music. From Jazz to Hip Hop, or acoustic singer-songwriter to whatever may be popular at this very second. For me, I've taken bits and pieces of everything I listen to and try my best to create something that not only speaks to me but hopefully to those listening to what I have to say while performing. I've played ope ... View Profile
I always start with something easily relatable to the student. Something they DO know to be a gateway into a new world they might be intimidated by. For swimming I require my students to learn safety swimming just as much as any swim stroke for realistic future situations, such as back float and treading water. The same goes for percussion. Learning about each instrument and what they're used for in an ensemble, as well as rudiments and techniques are all the most important when it comes to being the best and safest. I have been playing percussion now for fifteen years in ensembles in school, drum lines and corpses, and took classical l ... View Profile

My teaching approach: My teaching approach really depends on the student. I don't know what they need until we meet. But some things are across the board. I feel that technical skills are necessary tools for getting you where you want to go. Scales, chord shapes and arpeggios are very important to being able to get around on a guitar. I also like to teach students to apply Indian vocal rhythms (tala) to guitar. My guitar lessons take place in: either your home or my studio Guitar Techniques: Rhythm guitar, Fingerpicking, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Recording and Production, ...
