My Mission Statement: My mission is to teach, support and encourage anyone who wants to learn how to meditate or who wants to deepen their own practice. I want to help others on their inward journey towards healing and transformation, and to find a sense of peace and purpose.
My Meditation Story: I began meditating in 2010 after feeling the physical, mental, and emotional effects of long-term exposure to unmanaged stress and an overall dissatisfaction with my career and relationships. These effects showed up for me as insomnia, chronic back pain, headaches, exhaustion, depression, and anxiety, I was a hot mess. I desperately tried to control my external world in hopes of finding relief, contentment, and happiness. Through meditation, I found the peace and happiness that I was searching for, only it was not in the outer world but rather within me the whole time. I learned to connect with my true self and I am free of much of the self-limiting behaviors that kept me unfulfilled and in a constant state of stress. I feel privileged and honored to teach meditation to others and help them develop their own practice giving them a foundation to start their own journey towards healing and transformation; a sense of peace and purpose. I believe meditation has the power to heal us, our relationships, our community, and ultimately humanity and the planet.
My Professional Background: I received my Bachelor Degree in Biological Sciences from Southern Illinois University in 1994 and my Ph.D in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Indiana University in 2006. I have worked in academia and the pharmaceutical industry as a research scientist and in the medical device industry as a medical writer. As a scientist I was always on a quest to investigate and uncover how the body works in order to develop medicine or medical interventions to treat the problems in the body. After many years, I began to question not how the body works but what is telling the body how to work, and how our mind and spirit influence our body, overall health and well-being. It was around this time I began to meditate. Through meditation, I began to understand the roles my mind, body, and spirit played in my overall general health and happiness. Meditation transformed my life and I wanted to be able to share what I have learned with others. In 2017, I completed a meditation teacher training program and now I am a McLean Meditation Institute Certified Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher.

I guide the student through a meditation and give them the tools to start their own daily practice at home.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am Certified Meditation and Mindfulness Instructor and long-term meditator. It is a 200-hour certification program from the McLean Meditation Institute. I am currently getting certified for Mindfulness in the Workplace.
