My studio is well organized music environment for student looking for professional music advice and knowledge, regardless of your goal is i preach only the sincere and honest way of playing, i provide theory and aural training for my stduent, i consider 'making progress' is as a musician not as a pianist.
all students are recommanded with weekly lesson and suggested musicianship class tailor to their ability, as well as weekly studio class meeting on zoom, which is free for all of my students, and giving them an regualr performnce opportunity as well as connecting with other like-minded student from the studio.
Share the thought of how to play and listen Classical Piano Music and watching it thrive in my student's progress, learning it and living it.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Usually, i do an free assessment lesson with all incoming new student to evalute their musical abilities, such as earing training, singing-notation in tune, music theory knowledge and their pianist skill(if is beginner, i will have them play 5finger pattern so i know exactly what are their weakness and strength is) also their musical background. after that i will introduce my approach which is well-rounded not just pianistic skills but also music theory and aural training as well as music history knowledge. my new (beginning and intermediate leve)coming student has an opportunity of taking 4 sessions of $40/45m try-out lesson before signing the contract to be offically admitted to the studio.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am Classical Pianist, Chamber Musician as well as experienced piano pedagogical educator, my forcus on teaching is classical style based and partially conservatory-like.
Degree:
Master of Music, from Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University in Piano Performance.
Bachelor of Music from College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati in Piano Performance.

Lesson Language: English; Chinese 中文 2020 studio fare: Beginner level (ABRSM level 1-4): $40(45minutes）or $55(60minutes) Intermediate level (ABRSM level 5-7): $60 (60 minutes) Advance level (ABRSM level 8): $70 (60 minutes) Pre-College level (ARSM and DipABRSM): $90/$100 (60 minutes) College level, please contact the instructor for specific pricing. Musicianship classes (music theory, aural theory and sight reading):$45 (single subject class 45 minutes ), or $55 (combo subject class 60 minutes) All ABRSM exam takers (students) who are intermediate level or above, are required to take theory and musicianship class.
How did you get started teaching?
Originally, when i was in high school, cuz my experience as young pianist who attended and won many competitions, my teacher at the time ask me to be her student's competition repertoire coach. So i started with teaching technical difficulties resolution to different levels of student. Later when i entered college, i finally organized my experience as a student and pianist and started my own curriculum for teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
In terms of age, i have worked with students from 5-17 from beginning level until some of them enter professional music pre-college such as shanghai concersertory of music. for adult students i have work with 25-50yrs old from beginning level to ABRSM piano exam level 8.
Not all of my students are aiming for professional pianist or musician career, regardless of my student's goal, my sole focus is the quality of their progress.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Their devotion to practice time. i can't make magic with student who doesn't have time to practice at all. regardless of how long the practice session is, as long as you can commit to a daily or somhow regular time frame schedule then i can help you.
