Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I invite every new potential student to try a FREE class as I want them to experience a class, our gym culture, the art of Muay Thai, etc to be sure they want to train Muay Thai and with us.
We dont offer long contracts or require expensive gear purchases. We just want good people that want to learn Muay Thai and be a part of a supportive culture.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've trained Muay Thai for almost two decades. I personally have competited & was the 2007 International Kickboxing Federation Lightweight World Classic Champion. I have coached many fighters at various levels, amateur & pro, and helped them to win various national titles as well.
we are the ONLY gym in Indiana that holds Gold Member status with the United States Muay Thai Federation.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes. As mentioned before, we invite potential clients in to try a free class so they can also see the value of our program.
When comparing prices with other gyms, note that the value of the prices are not always the same.
The value of our program is greater than others by several factors including we offer 48 classes a month, we have the most experienced, knowledgeable and credible Muay Thai instructor in the state of Indiana and we have a phenomenal gym culture that supports everyone!
Pricing is a flat $100/month for month to month or $90/month with a six month agreement.
We also offer discounts for military, LEO, first responders and public educators as well as families with multiple students training.
How did you get started teaching?
I didnt set out to teach Muay Thai; I really just loved the art and how it changed my life.
Someone I knew opened a gym in Fishers (Sparta) and asked me to be the head Muay Thai instructor.
From there I continued to grow my Muay Thai knowledge and experience as well as attract wonderful people into my program.
Then I decided it was time to open my own gym, KruFit.
What types of students have you worked with?
At KruFit you'll find kids as young as five training to adults as old as 78!
We have able bodied individuals along with those that have disabilities or have suffered injuries and/or have limitations such as knee and hip replacements.
We can adapt and modify most anything to fit the needs of our members.
We also have regular, every day people- moms, dads, grandparents, etc training along side active amateur and professional fighters.
We are a community that is inclusive and supportive of every individual and their goals.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In February 2020, our gym held the first Youth Development League event in the state of Indiana sanctioned by the United States Muay Thai Federation (USMF).
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You should get in to the gym and experience a class with the instructor and members. You want to feel welcomed and enjoy the environment you are working out in.
Also, do your research on the qualifications of the instructor. Don't be deceived- the United States Muay Thai Federation is the sanctioning body of Muay Thai and is a part of the International Federation of Muay Thai (IFMA) which will be the sanctioning body of Muay Thai when it debuts as an Olympic sport in 2024.
If the instructor is not familiar with the USMF or a licensed coach with the USMF, it is not likely that they are a legit Muay Thai instructor.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should have some goals in mind and ask the instructor how they can help them achieve their goals.
