LR

Libby R.

Heather was my teacher for a metalsmithing class at Indiana University and I loved her class so much that I had a friend of mine take it the semester after me! Heather has all of the qualities of a great teacher - she plans thoughtful and engaging lessons and communicates them clearly, always willing to re-explain if needed or walk a student through a process if they are uncomfortable. Additionally, her empathy and fun nature made the classroom a joy to be in and created a community of artists from a classroom of strangers! I would highly recommend her as a teacher. Even after I finished her course she never stopped encouraging me in my art!

Frequently asked questions

I have worked  with a very diverse range of students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

I recently taught a workshop on creative chainmaking and design at Touchstone Center for Craft. It was a wonderful experience. The students were so joyful and open to exploration. And it is set in the Laurel Mountains of Pennsylvania, so we were surrounded and inspired by natural beauty all week!

Be open to play, explore, fail, find successes or inspiration in those failures, learn, grow, and practice, practice, practice.

What are your goals? Do you want to have fun and enjoy a new hobbby? Are you looking to become proficient and possibly begin an artistic career? What artists inspire you, or what inspires you in general? How much time do you want to dedicate to studio time each day/week? What are your expectations?
