FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I want to know your end goal or objectives. Then let's brainstorm and map out the journey to get there together.

I want you to know that Art is work. You will have some magical moments, but creating Art can be frustrating at times. However, if you are willing to put the practice time in, you will definitely get results.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art in Illustration with minors in Drawing and Portrait Painting. I also had an opportunity to take about 9 credit hours at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago while rolling posters for tourists in the Museum's gift shop : )

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I am new to the online teaching realm, so we can work out fair pricing together depending on if you need 1 basic session or multiple blocks of time.

Pricing depends on your needs and your end goal.

If it is one on one or one to a small group...

Expect to pay about $1.00 - $5.00 per minute.

30 minute session = $30

If you have a few basic questions or a quick follow up to look over a project and you need just about 5 minutes or so for a bit of direction = no charge.

If you want to talk about Art for hours and hours, well... there will be a fee : )

How did you get started teaching?

My Mom was a Music Teacher and Choir Director. I loved Art in school and had fantastic teachers everywhere!

I love creating and love helping others create!!

What types of students have you worked with?

I have primarily worked with the Elementary level during my 16 years for Indianapolis Public Schools.

Adults are "Arting" more than ever now!!

I have recently added Paint Party Instructor for Art Events (for about 4 years now) to my resume.

: )

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Make sure that you have time to practice.

Unless of course, your time with me is the actual practice time : )

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What is your end goal?

Do you need a few tips on improving existing pieces, or help with ideas, strategies, tips for mediums to use?
