Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, I start by finding out the athletes' age, grade, and school they attend. Position(s) they play, and then we go about evaluating their physical abilities, flexibility, speed, agility, strength, endurance, durability, mental capacity and toughness. We look at their strengths and weaknesses and we will build a plan and a program to help develop and improve their skills and instincts for the game.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a former football player myself. I am currently a football coach with over 18 years of experience coaching at all levels of the game. I have a Master's degree in Sports Administration, and also a background in Sports Kinesiology.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our evaluations are free. Once we see what the athlete needs work on we talk to the parents to let them know what kind of training we can provide to help their athlete get better.
We have hourly rates ranging from $25 -$150. Sessions can last from 1 to 2 hours depending on the age and level of the athlete.
How did you get started teaching?
After playing football, I realized how much I enjoyed teaching. I decided to start coaching right after college. I started a few youth organizations with some fellow coaches, and we worked to teach the fundamentals of football. We basically grew through coaching again at all levels of the game, where we followed many of our athletes from Pee-Wee football all the way up to and through college. Helping them stay on track for graduation, assisting them with going through the recruiting process, applying to 2 and 4 year institutions, assisting with getting financial aid, and much more.
What types of students have you worked with?
We've worked with students from 6 years old up to 24 years old. Athletes who are new to football, and seasoned athletes who have a grasp of the game and just want to learn more. We cover all levels and age groups.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Several of our athletes have recently graduated from college in 2019. Many of them are pursuing careers in their fields of study, some are pursuing their professional football careers. Either way I'm happy they're making progress in a positive way.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say do your research, first to see if the coach/teacher is a good fit for what you need. Find out if they can truly help you improve overall as a person and as an athlete.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How hard are they willing to work to get better? What are they willing to sacrifice to improve? Are they willing to listen and be coached? Are they willing to be honest with themselves about their strengths and weaknesses? Are they willing to watch film of themselves and opponents to get better at film study?
