    Frequently asked questions

Typically I meet with the student and/or parents (grandparents) which ever applies, and we talk about what the student wants to accomplish.  We talk about how I can help them, and them and we develop some measurable goals that the student wants to achieve.   This is true whether it is for CPR and First Aid Courses or whether it is for Educational Therapy or Skills Tutoring.   Once we define the goals, in cases more specific to Educational Therapy and Tutoring we set up a trial session or sessions, where we agree to try each other out and then we meet again for a short time to figure out of the teacher/student relationship is going to work for us.

For CPR/First Aid:   I am EMT have been for over 20 years.   I hold Instructor Certificates in AHA, Red Cross, National Safety Council, and Emergeny Care and Safety Institute. I teach all Levels of Emergency response up to Emergency Medical Responder.

In terms of teaching and Learning,  I hold a B.A in Special Education, MS in educational leadership, and am working toward my Doctorate in Special Education.   I am also registered as an Associate Educational Therapist. Reg. #1547 (Association of Educational Therapists).  I hold a professional license as a Moderate Disabilities Teacher in Massachusetts.  MA Lic. # 407481, In addition I hold a Board Certification in Special Education through the National Assn. of Special Education Teachers.

    First Aid and CPR-

1-3 People for basic Red Cross Certification is $70 per person. This is equal to $28 cost for certification card (From the Red Cross) and the instructor earns $42 per person for an aproximately 3 - 4 hour class.

4-6 people is $60 per person. This is still $28 dollars for the actual certificate, and the instructor earns $32 dollars a person.

There are nationally recognized programs that can cost less. If you are looking for a lower cost alternative but still need to regulatory requirements and have quality training.  Please reach out.  I can always work with you.

Academic Tutoring-  this is where I assist with reinforcement of topics and content being taught. Some student strategies, and a few tips. This is subject specific or Exam Prep specific.  See below:

SAT, ISEE, ACT, other exams $25 per hour and after the first 2 initial session it is asked that you schedule 3 additional session I. Advance, payment terms can be discussed.

Academic Subject tutoring, is:ELA, Math, SS, etc. same as above $25 dollars an hour

Educational Therapy- this is the remediation or learning and other related disabilities.  In sessions students not only gain exposure to academic topics as necessary, but we use these topics as a vehicle for learning.   We takes some learning profile assessments, we take an interest inventory and we develop a tool box with tools to use when approaching tasks that are difficult.  The ultimate goal of the student is to “learn how to Learn” more Effectively, and understand their own style.  This type of service sets students up for success in that they begin to learn how to use strategies and methods to help themsevels.

Cost of Educational Therapy ranges from

$45 per hour to $90 per hour depending up what the client is asking for.   Contact if you have specific questions.
