William C. says, "The knowledge and teaching ability of Mr. Garcia. The amount of detail he uses to explain the mechanics of hitting. In addition to instructing my daughter I have observed Mr. Garcia working with other hitters and his approach varies greatly as each hitter brings a different body, mechanics, and goals to the instruction. 5 plus stars and a great person to go with the experience. Hello, thanks for checking in. I have 30 years experience playing baseball as a catcher. Started in Bayamon, PR as a seven years old. Right after I graduated from high school I went to Santo Domingo, DR for a year in order to train and learn more skills about catching and baseball. I was under the wing of a scout from the Minnesota Twins and trained by professionals baseball players. After that I moved to Holyoke, Massachusetts and played division 3. Now that you know where I'm coming from let me help you get better at what we love, baseball.

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.

Great coach

Kevin helped me with back issues after a car crash - initially with giving me a great referral to another PT who could help me at that time. He then also working with me directly to assist in a faster recovery. More importantly, Kevin worked with my 16 year old son regarding physical training for football/basketball/lacrosse by teaching him certain techniques. Kevin has a great way of educating others about ways to not only recover from injury - or avoid injury in the first place - but to become faster and stronger, and ultimately a more effective athlete.

Rey has worked with my daughters for more than a decade. I can't say enough about his approach to teaching. He knows the game, has experience at the highest levels of the sport and has a keen eye for mechanics. Most importantly, Rey knows how to talk with the girls and communicate very specific changes in ways that are easy to understand and implement. For anyone considering Garcia Hitting Academy, I can assure you that you won't find a better coach anywhere in the New England area.
