Hi my name is Cassandra! I am an artist and I create art using various mediums in my art studio located in Beverly, MA. I opened my art studio, Local Artisan last summer and I have had so much fun teaching and co-creating art with others in my shop. Previous to being a business owner I was a middle school art teacher in Upstate NY. I have over 10 years experience teaching and giving lessons to both children and adults. I love helping others find their own creative expressions unique to themselves through art!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student I always like to see where they stand with skill level/experience. I love to see past work if they have it. This usually helps guide the lessons approppriately.
If the student is interested in learning realism portraits then I will usually start out with the basic drawing techniques such as shading, erasing, pencil lines, and blending.
We then will begin with learning how to draw human features such as eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and hair.
Once we have gotten the features down then we can work on the composition of a full complete piece. Chipping away at different aspects of our subject, focusing on realism.
For other students that are interested in illustractions I will help the child or adult explore the techniques and skills used in different forms of illustrations.
I will tailor the class based on the indiviual person's unique needs and wants.
