Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I normally see what the student can and can not do. I then proceeded to work on their needs and wants by a process or formala that works for them. In other words in progressive stages.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been working in the Public School System since 2003 to present and earned a Bachelors Degree from Morgan State University back in 1987. I have played all levels of basketball from recreation to pro ball. I have been training students for well over 23 years from ages 4 and up with my patented program by way Agility and Skill development.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My prices depends on the individual(s) and their skill set. I would have interview them and see if I'm the right fit for them or the parent. Not into just taking someone's money but development is a key component to me and ones ability to succeed.
How did you get started teaching?
I mentioned in my bio about having 3 athletic kids (2 sons and 1 daughter) that I developed and designed a agility program for them to compete against the best. All 3 contributed to their teams mission and success which earned them titles in Recreation, AAU and 3 State Championships all 3 attending 3 different schools.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with ages 4 and up from begginers to skilled players.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have contracted with the Police Athletic League (PAL) in PG County for the last 2 years doing Basketball Camps over the summer. I was able to develope the beginners and the skill players by way of my agility and skill development program. The prize at the end of the week was watching the beginners compete with the skill players either on the defensive or offensive end of the court. Most all watching them smile and giving high fives to each other as though they have been playing together for years. Everyone is a player in my eyes and opening their door is the most important part.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
They would have to be fully vetted and be able to develop and mentor the parents along with the student's dream to be the best and compete against the best.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
There is a lot of needs and wants in this business of sports. If you want it, then you will be an average player but if you need it that takes you to another level. Example If an assistant coach come to you and state "I want you to play for my team." All of that is great but if the Head Coach state "I need you on my team." Understand that means your not just an average player but you have a lot to offer to his/her program. The possibility of you playing is much higher along with development because you are on the floor competing with the best. In other words, know your purpose and what your looking to accomplish down the road. Ie mid/high school, college and or pro team.....
