I am willing to be flexible and work toward the best potential for my students to grow not just musically but also with discipline, determination, and confidence.
Teaching is one of the most rewarding experiences in my life especially as a performer. Not only do I feel great enjoyment from encouraging progression with cello technique and musicality but also seeing a person look forward to creating something new and personal.
I have had the absolute privilege of being a student of Carrie's for about 3 years (until she moved). Carrie's style of teaching is well balanced with music knowledge, patience, discipline, thoughtfulness, and enthusiasm. I highly recommend Carrie as a cello teacher and only wish she could still be mine!
I was Carrie's student for seven years and I cannot review her favorably enough. She is both an incredible cellist and a phenomenal teacher. She is dedicated, responsible, patient, and is constantly working to help the student improve and gain a passion for music. Any student would be lucky to have her as their teacher.
Carrie miller provided me (as an older, beginning celloist) the encouragement to continue learning, and to enjoy my own abilities. As she progressed in her own studies, she found time to share her musical knowledge in a tender and consistent manner. She encouraged a sense of family among all her students. She imparts her technical abilities with patience and a genuine knowledge of the human differences in learning abilities. I would recommend Carrie as a great teacher (cello) with practical technique, book knowledge and excellent modeling of continuing growth in a profession she obviously is lucky to enjoy. Money and time well spent. She is missed!
Carrie is very pleasant, patient, and encouraging. She is always willing to help you during or outside of the lesson time. She has given me an excellent start in my cello journey, bringing me from a raw beginner to solid intermediate.
I like to start with a lesson to get to know their current level and goals. We will work on scales, and etude and a piece to assess. Trying to understand what types of places the student plays or performnace opportunities they want to accomplish such as to play for their grandmother for Christmas or to play a competition! I look to ask questions to help understand how to achieve their goals.
