Teaching is one of the most rewarding experiences in my life especially as a performer. Not only do I feel great enjoyment from encouraging progression with cello technique and musicality but also seeing a person look forward to creating something new and personal.

    Carrie miller provided me (as an older, beginning celloist) the encouragement to continue learning, and to enjoy my own abilities. As she progressed in her own studies, she found time to share her musical knowledge in a tender and consistent manner.She encouraged a sense of family among all her students. She imparts her technical abilities with patience and a genuine knowledge of the human differences in learning abilities. I would recommend Carrie as a great teacher (cello) with practical technique, book knowledge and excellent modeling of continuing growth in a profession she obviously is lucky to enjoy.     Frequently asked questions

    I like to start with a lesson to get to know their current level and goals. We will work on scales, and etude and a piece to assess. Trying to understand what types of places the student plays or performnace opportunities they want to accomplish such as to play for their grandmother for Christmas or to play a competition! I look to ask questions to help understand how to achieve their goals.

    I started working as a high school student under scholarship to help middle schoolers in school orchestra. It was so fun!
