What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For beginners, we first ask if there are any physical limitations that we need to be aware of. Next, we take them through the basic exercises to warm up and beginner level movements.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 20 years of experience in the art of Capoeira and have certificates to reference my instructor level.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our standard class fee is as follows:
$10 - kids (9-12)
$15 - teens & adults (13+)
How did you get started teaching?
I first started in dance and martial arts when I was 7 I, later on, was able to come across a movie that displayed Capoeira. I was later fortunate to meet instructors to learn the older traditional style of Capoeira.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with kids as young as 5 years old and individuals with Autism, ADHD, ADD & weight limitations.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent evert is the Brazilian Day Street Festival which gives everyone an opportunity to experience Brazilian culture in Detroit.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would suggest speaking with the instructor and possibly meeting to get a feel for their teaching methods.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should first ask are they ready to be committed to something that is fun. And are they ready to listen to understand?
