Back in 2005, to adopt a healthier lifestyle, I hired a personal trainer and was in awe of how much he loved his job! Inspired, and driven by my desire to leave a person, a place or a situation better than I find it, I committed to making my dream a reality. So, in 2008, I quit my career in IT and became certified as a personal trainer and have never looked back!

I have thousands of hours working with clients and patients of all fitness levels, levels of experience, age, physical capabilities and medical conditions.

The majority have been everyday people with or without medical conditions trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, those with physical restrictions, youth trying to manage their weight, and an aging population hoping to live independently and without injury.

I also have extensive experience with athletes looking to improve performance, young people preparing to join the military or law enforcement, bodybuilding and physique competitors, and women pre-, during and post-pregnancy.

A new client began working with me 6 months ago, after being told by her doctor that she was facing some pretty serious medical issues if she didn't adopt a healthier lifestyle.

At her follow up visit, two weeks ago, she was given a clean bill of health! Her doctor was so impressed with her progress, he asked her to take him some of my business cards.

There's no better reward than changing someone's life for the better!

Ensure they have nationally accredited credentials that are up to date - credentials in this industry are an indicator of how seriously the provider takes their work.

Look for professionals who participate in continuing education - tools, techniques and industry research changes all the time. Your trainer should be continually reviewing their own knowledge.

Ask how your program will be designed, reviewed and modified to ensure that you are not throwing your money away. No-one's goals stay the same, so their program shouldn't either.

Seek out client reviews and feedback - any good personal trainer should be comfortable sharing past client experiences.

Meet with the professional to ensure that you have a personal connection. Personal Training is personal. You won't be successful if you don't feel connected to your trainer, and connected to your program.

What are your goals? Why are they important? How would you feel if you reached them? What has prevented you from reaching them in the past? What is different now?
