I am a proficient performer in Jazz and Classical music, I love teaching it, and have had many years teaching everyone from the beginner (all ages) to the most advanced students. (I am currently working with a student on Rachamaninoff’s 3rd Concerto). I have a Doctorate in Piano Performance from Yale, a member of MMTA, Over twenty years of college teaching experience, but doing more performing than anything else lately. I love communicating my passion for an art that is so necessary for times like these, and finding what allows each student to develop their talent with freedom and joy. I consider my role to be like a personal trainer, not s...

Tara Priolo is known to most as ‘your resident white-facing biracial multi-passionate musician.’ She is, among other things: a soprano, brand coach, voice teacher, activist/diversity counselor, and arts administrator. In all spaces, she brings a commitment to vulnerability, equality & equity, and a penchant for starting and facilitating hard conversations. My studio includes teaching voice, piano, and coaching brand clients. Through client-led, goal-oriented lessons and coachings Tara Priolo Method seeks to meet people exactly where they are & release the entanglements they’ve placed on their voices - spoken, sung, written, or in the online ...

Reviews for Minneapolis music theory teachers

Recent success stories from people in the Minneapolis area.
John P.
The teacher is great at watching and listening to my playing. He excels at correcting my playing in a manner that I understand and doesn't make me feel like I shouldn't be playing guitar. It's a real pleasure to learn from Ryan. I am a much better player and learning so quickly I really can't believe it.

Pat Balder is an exceptional singing teacher. His training and background see him combining the best parts of traditional and contemporary vocal practice. He has built his own approach, merging parts of other disciplines such as SLS, Estil, Opera and more. Even online he has been able to work bringing my voice to a level at which I am thrilled - I've found the voice I always wanted. Pat has a great ear for hearing the parts of your voice that need refining, and even online he notices subtle physical nuances. He's also an amazing singer who can do almost any style. And he's a kind-hearted, charming guy. I couldn't recommend him more!

Anibal is extremely well-organized & thinks thru his “lesson plan” depending on what we’ve worked on the past few weeks. So, ultimately, the lessons & learning builds upon a foundation & that can be in a music style or genre or whatever the student wants to focus upon. Anibal is an incredible musician & has a plethora of tools to help the student. I continue to refer to a few short videos that he provided, to hear how a passage or scale or lick is properly played. He is very encouraging & patient with me as a student, yet also tried to push to raise-the-bar on my ability. I would highly recommend Anibal as a music instructor or musician for hire. He’s a really nice person as well!
