About

United Jiu Jitsu specializes in teaching kids, teens and adults self-defense through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, American Taekwondo and Kickboxing. Our curriculum and class structure is designed to teach our students goal setting, focus, control and how to work together as a team. These skills among others, help UJJ students better themselves while having fun, staying fit and learning valuable techniques that will benefit them for a lifetime.

Coach Stanleigh Riser is a 5th Degree Black Belt in American Taekwondo and Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jistu. He grew up in Maplewood and Oakdale MN. Along with his love and appreciation of the martial arts he also enjoys drawing, painting and digital graphic design. He earned his AAS in Multimedia Technologies December 2013, graduating with honors form Rasmussen College. He has many works and designs including the UJJ logo.

Coach Riser began his training in martial arts at the age of 16 in 2001. He studied American Taekwondo/Sport karate under the instruction of Master Steve Pruden. Stan began teaching as an Assistant Instructor in October of 2005. After earning his First Degree Black Belt, he became a Head Instructor teaching ages from preschool to adult. In the Summer of 2007, Stan started training in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Klint Klaas. Stan’s attention to detail led him to be a substitute coach for Professor Klaas’ classes. Stan continues to train BJJ under Professor Jeremy Anderson recently earning his BJJ Brown Belt in September of 2018. Stan has 6 years of Wrestling experience form Skyview Middle School and Tartan Sr. High School. 3 years on the Varsity team. He has studied Western Style Boxing with Jeron Stiffler to continue becoming a well-rounded martial artist.

Stan has worked hard to better his community by volunteering at elementary schools, middle schools and high schools to teach anti-bullying and self-defense related material. He has also promoted the benefits of martial art at birthday parties, neighborhood/public events, boy scout and girl scout meetings. His women’s self-defense seminars have been appreciated by the local community as well as the demonstrations he coordinates. He has worked hard to raise funds and donate to people in need including raising over $5000 for Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.

I enjoy teaching martial arts because it has been a passion of mine since I was a child. Intrinsic rewards from personal growth and the confidence from learning self-defense are valuable assets that I love to impart to my students. Plus, practicing martial arts is a fun and exciting way to exercise.
